Those who really want to taste Den Bosch cannot ignore the Local Taste Experience. With a bag full of Taste-Coins and a magazine full of tips, Honeyguides Krisja, Amanda and Ngoc went on a culinary voyage of discovery. From appetisers to desserts and tapas to sushi: you choose your favourite catering establishments, order a drink and exchange a token for a tasting. You pay for that drink yourself, but the kitchen will provide a tasty surprise. And only tastings can also be ordered vegetarian. Curious about our experience? Then read on.

1. Eating at Fret - Vegan comfort food at its best
We start strong at Fret, where plant-based food means no concessions in taste. The cauliflower wings in spicy gochujang marinade are crispy and spicy, and served with a garlic-ginger dip that brings it all together. Whether you sit inside or on the terrace, it feels relaxed and welcoming here. As Eten at Fret itself says: "We want to kickstart the image around plant-based food". And as far as we are concerned, they certainly succeed here.
2. Table at Fagel - French charm in the heart of Den Bosch
Entering Fagel is like stepping into a bistro in Paris. Owner Pascale has a passion for cheese and makes her own pâté, and you can taste it. We get a plate with three cheeses, her homemade pâté and garnishes that complete the dish. At Aan tafel BIJ Fagel, the menu changes constantly. Complete the experience with a nice matching wine. Pascale will help you choose with love and pleasure.

3. Fish shop Visch - For those who love fish
The third location is fish shop Visch. At Visch, we look into the kitchen while taking a seat at the bar. After handing in the Local Taste coin, a delicious dish appears on the table. It is a black tiger bite. These are sous vide cooked prawns with crunchy chilli oil. Each bite is soft, spicy and full of flavour. You come here for more than a fish for home. Visch is a fish shop and catering joint in one.
4. NomNom - Small bites, big taste
Everything is right at NomNom: atmosphere, service, and especially the plate we are served. Truffle manchego with peach chutney and a selection of olives that stays with you. A fine balance of sweet, savoury and umami. No excess, just right. When the weather is sunny, plop down on the terrace. But even on less sunny days you can sit comfortably at NomNom. This hidden gem has a large wooden bar, several cosy tables and green plants.
5. Brasserie Breton - Cosy enjoyment on the Korte Putstraat
In this compact brasserie, you can taste how simple can be extraordinary. The dishes are mainly made with products of the season. We get a tasting of a fresh oyster, a tuna amuse and a piece of goat cheese brie. Each morsel is carefully curated and a true Breton delicacy. To lick your fingers as far as we are concerned!

6. Bar Wineig - Wine and gyoza: a golden combination
Wines on tap and a relaxed atmosphere. When we step inside Bar Wijnig, it immediately feels right. The gyoza are a hit. Juicy, crunchy and with just enough spice. At the tasting you get a mix of different gyoza with a filling of chicken and vegetables. Do you eat only vegetarian? Then, of course, you can also have just the gyoza with vegetables. At Bar Wijnig, there is a wine tap with as many as 60 types of wine. From a bold Chardonnay to a smooth Pinot Noir. Choose a local wine from Wijngoed Wolf in Sint-Michielsgestel or opt for a world wine from Argentina.
Map out a route - Order your coins
Getting hungry already? The Local Taste Experience is the way to discover new catering establishments. With your coins in your pocket, you put together your own route. The participating catering establishments can be found in the magazine and on the Local Taste website. Here you will also find the times when the coin can be handed in. This differs per entrepreneur. Besides Den Bosch, it is also possible to do the Local Taste experience in Breda or Tilburg. Check the website for the possibilities and order the coins.
