The story of the honeyguide
Honeyguide is the story of a bird in the African wilderness. For millions of years, this bird, called Honeyguide, has worked with the San, the original inhabitants of southern Africa. The bird gets its name from its talent for finding honey in hollow trees in the Kalahari desert. The Honeyguide signals the San with a whistle, after which they set off together for hundreds of kilometres. Once they arrive at the tree, the San harvest the honey and the bird gets its 'fair share'.
Without help from the Honeyguide, the San would never have found the honey and without help from humans, the bird would never have been able to harvest the honey. This symbiosis between humans and animals exemplifies how we see the future of tourism. Positive, personal and based on cooperation and honesty. Where we point out and 'guide' each other to special places. Where visitors come to add something positive to a place. With time, attention and consideration for each other.
