Privacy and Cookie Policy

Honeyguide may collect personal data from Users when Users book a trip, post a tip, compile a personal guide, subscribe to the newsletter, participate in a contest or promotion, respond to a survey or fill out a form. To the extent appropriate, Users may be asked to provide information regarding their name, e-mail address, telephone number, physical address, postal code, country, nationality, gender, date of birth and passport and ID number. Furthermore, Honeyguide processes your IP address when using some cookies. More information on the use of cookies can be found below.

Your personal details are used for customer services and to improve these services, to prevent and solve problems with services provided to you, to send newsletters to which the User has subscribed and for customer statistics.

In addition, information can be used to carry out a promotion, survey, competition and other functions of the site and/or for other marketing purposes. Honeyguide may also use this information for technical and functional management as well as to improve our Sites and the Honeyguide App and to enhance the user experience. Furthermore, we may process your data to comply with legal requirements and/or regulations. Honeyguide may also use your personal data to prevent and combat fraud during the payment processes on the Sites. Honeyguide relies on legitimate interest for this processing of your personal data in this context.

Honeyguide may send newsletters to Users who have booked a trip via one of the Sites regarding similar trips or events, unless they have objected to this at the time of booking. If a User wishes to benefit from our daily promotions (trips of the day), they may also subscribe to the newsletter at any time. Newsletters may include: company news, updates or information about or offers on products or services of Honeyguide and/or its affiliates. These emails may be personalised based on your personal data, past bookings and website navigation. If at any time you wish to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, you can do so by clicking on the "Unsubscribe" text in the newsletter. You can then unsubscribe from a selection menu. You can also unsubscribe by calling our customer service or sending an e-mail.

We will then manually unsubscribe you. If you have any questions, comments and/or complaints, please contact our customer service.

For the following reasons, Honeyguide may ask Users' permission to share their location via the Honeyguide App: 1) to determine the User's current location with regard to showing a route (description) to or from the User's accommodation and/or to show Users other places of interest or 2) to be able to show relevant information from the User's travel/trip schedule (in the App) during the trip. Users may withdraw their consent at any time. These procedures can be found on our website.

Honeyguide may ask Users who have booked a trip via one of the Sites to leave a review/rating. Users can object to their review being displayed online when completing the review through a so-called 'opt-out'. By leaving a review, Honeyguide can inform other Users about the quality and experience of the trip/trip and/or other services purchased by the User. Honeyguide bases this processing of your personal data in this context on legitimate interest. This means that we use your data only for the purpose we now specify.

Functional cookies
These cookies may store the name of your browser, as well as the type of computer and technical information about how you are connected to our Sites, such as the operating system and internet service provider used, as well as other similar information. This information is used to technically facilitate navigation and use of the Sites. In addition, technical cookies may be used to store personal settings such as language, or, upon request, to remember your booking details for future visits.

Analytical cookies
Our Sites use analytical cookies set by Google Analytics to measure the number of visits and identify the parts of the Sites that are most popular with Users. This information is used to provide aggregated and statistical data on the use of our Sites and is also used to improve the content of our Sites in order to enhance the user experience. Furthermore, our Sites use analytical cookies to track how you found our Sites, so that we can measure the effectiveness of email campaigns, advertisements or AdWords on other third-party sites. The analytics cookies are linked to the personal data we hold about you, as indicated above, to personalise our newsletters and to display personalised adverts on third-party websites.

However, Google may combine this data with generic data it holds about a User and which has been obtained through its other services. For this reason, Honeyguide will only use Google Analytics with your consent. As Honeyguide has no control over these services, we would like to refer you to Google’s information about its services.

We share statistical information with partners. In addition, Honeyguide has entered into a data processing agreement with its partners. This agreement sets out the arrangements between Honeyguide (as the data controller) and the partners (as data processors). These agreements specify the purposes for which the personal data collected may be used, the security measures that must be taken, and the forms of supervision that Honeyguide, as the data controller, is permitted to exercise in this regard.

Advertising cookies via Facebook and third-party sites
Furthermore, our Sites use cookies to display a personalised news feed and adverts based on your website browsing behaviour and past purchasing behaviour when you visit Facebook or other third-party sites. If you have not agreed to this Privacy and Cookie Policy, Honeyguide adverts may still appear on other sites and in your social media newsfeeds, but these will not be personalised by our service providers or by us. Honeyguide’s Privacy and Cookie Policy does not apply to the use of such websites, and we recommend that you consult the applicable Privacy and Cookie Policies of those websites should you require further information.

Social media cookies
You may share parts of our Sites on social media, such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. These social media platforms use cookies to enable you to do so. Honeyguide’s Privacy and Cookie Policy does not apply to the use of such websites. Please refer to the Privacy and Cookie Policy of the relevant social media platform for information about their use of these cookies (Instagram/Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn).

Deleting cookies
Cookies do not store your personal data, such as your email address or telephone number, but they do usually process your IP address. If you do not want cookies to be stored on your computer, or if you wish to delete cookies that have already been stored, you can do so via the settings screen in your browser settings. The procedure for adjusting these settings varies by browser. The websites of the Dutch Consumers’ Organisation clearly explain how to do this. Please note: once the stored cookies have been deleted, you will no longer be able to access the Sites without accepting the cookies again.

We adopt appropriate data protection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect you from unauthorised access, modification, disclosure or destruction of your personal data, username, password, transaction information and data stored on or through our Sites.

The exchange of booking details and personal data between the Site and its users takes place over an SSL-protected communication channel and is encrypted and secured by digital signatures. While Honeyguide takes care to ensure secure data transmission between your devices and our systems, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of information transmitted to us over the Internet. If we become aware of a security breach that results in unauthorised access to your personal data, we will make every effort to notify you.

We may provide your personal data to partners such as city marketers, accommodation service providers, if this is required to execute your booking. Otherwise, we will not sell, trade or rent Users' personal data to others, with the exception of partners and companies that are part of the group to which Honeyguide belongs. We may use third-party service providers to help us operate our business and the Sites or manage activities on our behalf, such as sending newsletters or surveys. To protect your and our interests, we may share Users' personal data with third parties as necessary to prevent and combat fraud during the payment processes on the Sites. Honeyguide relies on legitimate interest for this processing of your personal data in this context.

Users may find advertising or other content on our Sites that links to the sites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors and other third parties. We have no control over the content or links that appear on these sites and are not responsible for the practices of websites that link to or from our Sites. In addition, these sites or services - including their content and links - may be subject to constant change. These sites and services may have their own privacy and customer service policies. Browsing as well as interaction on any other website - including websites that link to our Sites - is subject to the terms and policies of that website.

Honeyguide may change this Privacy and Cookie Policy at any time at its own discretion. When we do so, we will update the last update date at the bottom of this page. We encourage you to check this page regularly for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal data we collect.
