In cooperation with NS Dagje Uit, I went on a walk in Breda with Amanda. We chose the green walking route in the Explore Breda app. Via the free app, you walk along cool hidden gems with a green and sustainable background. From the station, you walk a nice route through the city centre. We found this route along green doers really worthwhile and would love to take you on an adventure.

1. Blossom Vintage - Willemstraat 21

Owner Kay has a great passion for vintage clothes. But vintage shops can sometimes be overwhelming and cluttered. That's why she decided to take a completely different approach in her shop in Breda. Bloesem Vintage 's shop is spacious, calm and organised. The shop is not overcrowded and is divided into twelve changing themes. To ensure sufficient variety, between 100 and 200 new garments enter the shop every week. So you need never fear repeating yourself if you visit the shop more often.

From lammy coats to upcycled blouses. The garments at Blossom Vintage are at least 25 years old but certainly don't look it. Most of the clothes come from Italy where we work with wholesalers and clothes sorters. Each item is manually checked for condition and material composition. Kay thus ensures that the items in the collection are truly durable and that you can enjoy your purchase for longer. When are you going to take a look?

2. Elemental Eco - Boschstraat 66

The goal of Elemental Eco is to help people make their lives more sustainable. Whether with big or small steps, every little bit helps. Amanda and I enjoyed browsing around this shop. The place is full of sustainable, organic, local and eco-friendly products. No pre-packaged big packs, but self-tapping plastic-free food, locally grown vegetables and locally made gifts.

Bring your own jar and fill it with fresh tea, coffee or herbs. Or treat yourself to tasty nuts or seeds. Forgotten a jar? Other visitors regularly leave clean jars behind that you can grab for free to fill.

3. The green Submarine - Sint Annastraat 8

If you feel the need for more green in your home, be sure to stop by The Green Submarine while walking this route. This green oasis is an urban jungle in the middle of the city. Buying the perfect houseplant is a big investment but also a sustainable one. Unlike flowers, with the right care, plants last for years, making them extra long to enjoy.

Owner Monique gives you all the information you need to make your plants last forever. She herself prefers plants with animal characteristics, such as hairs on the stems or leaves. Looking for a budget-friendly gift? With the homemade ceramic cutting trays, you can turn one plant into several.

4. J'adore Vintage - Sint Annastraat 8

When owner Suus opened J'adore Vintage in 2017, she was inspired by the markets in France that she always visited as a child with her mother. With a French mother, it was therefore only a matter of time until Suus developed her love for Vintage. The clothes at J'adore Vintage come from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. The most beautiful items come from all over the world, but most of the garments Suus sources from France and Italy.

Imagine yourself in Paris in this atmospheric shop on Sint Annastraat in Breda. Each garment is carefully selected and this is reflected in the shop's appearance. Not able to come to Breda? In the online shop you will find the nicest items, all hand-picked by owner Suus. Before sale, each item is carefully checked, washed, ironed, photographed and packed.

5. Emily's Healthy Bar - Nieuwe Ginnekenstraat 24 C

After a morning of walking around, it is of course also time to relax and enjoy. Emily's Healthy Bar is a perfect break spot if you are in Breda. Here, healthy dishes are prepared by owner Emily or one of her team members. When Amanda and I stepped inside, we were cheerfully welcomed by Emily. She immediately started making delicious cappuccinos with oat milk.

Prefer not to settle down for lunch? The fresh juices and smoothies are also highly recommended. My absolute favourite is the Beeting Heart. This fresh juice with beetroot, orange, apple, carrot, lemon and ginger is full of healthy flavours.

6. Parels Thrift Shop - Houtmarktpassage 33

Parels is part of Kringloopwinkel Vindingrijk. In this thrift shop in the Houtmarktpassage in Breda, you will find the most beautiful second-hand pearls. From old photos to nostalgic garments and from unusual vases to wooden rocking horses. You can't imagine it and you'll find it at Parels.

Would you rather not spend too much money? Bring a book, cutting or other item and swap it with one of the items in the swap cupboard. This way, you can clear out an item you no longer use and swap it with an item that makes you happy.

Hopefully I have been able to inspire you and you will soon be walking past green entrepreneurs with the free Explore Breda app. Share your own adventure with us on Instagram by using @honeyguide.nl/en and #heyhoneyguide.

Enjoy your meal,
