In charming and historical Zutphen, there is a surprising range of honest shops and restaurants, all of which work with love for people, animals and the planet. From organic bread to sustainable clothing and local delicacies: if you want to enjoy consciously, this is the place to be. This route of seven addresses takes you through the city and introduces you to places where you can buy, taste and discover with confidence. Curious about the starting point? The heartwarming Driekant Bread Café.
1. Triekant Bread Café - Lijmerij 25
Driekant is not just a bakery, it is a place with a mission. In this cosy bread café, artisan organic breads are baked and served with honest ingredients. But what makes Driekant really special is that it is also a learning and working place for people distanced from the labour market. Here, it is about more than just good food: it is about connection, development and inclusiveness. The smell of fresh bread, the warm atmosphere and the beautiful interior make this the perfect starting point of your fair route through Zutphen.
2. Concept store Stilleven - Lange Hofstraat 18
In the beautiful centre of Zutphen you will find Stilleven - a serene and stylish shop where the theme 'Calm and sustainable living' comes to life. Here you shop special interior accessories in soft, calming colours, made of sustainable materials that last. Think handmade candles, ceramics, linen and timeless design - all with an eye for people and the environment. What makes Stilleven extra special is the accompanying Tiny House B&B. A completely handmade abode, built from sustainable materials and perfect for a relaxing night out.
From the tiny house you have a beautiful view of the Lochemse Berg and the surrounding forest. Even the oven is sustainable: it uses dry wood from the surrounding area, which saves energy and adds to the atmosphere.

3. Museum shop The Candy - Ravenstraatje 3
A nostalgic gem in the centre of Zutphen: Het Snoepje is a shop and small museum full of old-fashioned sweets. From cinnamon sticks to ulevellen (a kind of sweets), everything here is lovingly presented as it used to be. What makes this place honest is its dedication to craft and tradition. No unnecessary additives, but sweets as they were meant to be. Moreover, by visiting, you support a local initiative that keeps old flavours and stories alive.
4. Nic & I - Wine and Food - Sprongstraat 16
In a cosy street in the centre of Zutphen, you will find Nic & I - an atmospheric wine bar where hospitality, taste and honesty come together. With a selection of over 50 carefully chosen wines, this is the place for lovers of a good glass in a relaxed atmosphere. What makes it extra special? The dishes you can order with it are not only delicious, but also prepared with honest, local ingredients. The menu changes regularly, tailored to the season and what is available locally.
5. Concept store Eigen Zinnig - Beukerstraat 60
Eigen Zinnig is a colourful children's shop where sustainability and social entrepreneurship come together. You will find a surprising range of second-hand and new products for toddlers - from pregnancy to the first years of school. Everything is carefully selected: handmade, fairly produced or with a second life. Besides toys, clothes and original maternity gifts, you will also discover practical items for around the house. What makes this place extra special is its social commitment: Eigen Zinnig offers guidance and workplaces to people who could use a helping hand.
6. Radish Concept Store - Laarstraat 20
This stylish concept store is all about slow fashion, unique designs and a conscious lifestyle. The shop works closely with Dutch makers and sustainable brands, literally and figuratively offering them a stage. Whether you're looking for a vegan leather bag, sustainable tights, jewellery with a story or an eye-catching piece of clothing from the likes of Numph or VEJA - at Radijs you'll always find something you won't find everywhere. At the back of the shop is also a workshop, where owner Esther Maria van Deijzen designs her own label as well as makes custom-made clothes.
7. Restaurant By Chiel - 's-Gravenhof 5
At Restaurant By Chiel, everything revolves around pure flavours, craftsmanship and local enjoyment. Chef Chiel cooks with what the season has to offer at that moment, and you can taste that in every dish. The menu changes regularly and is composed entirely of products from regional suppliers. Everything is home-made - from the sauces to the desserts - according to classic French cuisine, but always with a contemporary twist. Chiel's passion can be seen not only on the plate, but also in the kitchen itself: on Mondays and Tuesdays, he runs cooking workshops where you get to work with seasonal produce yourself and learn how to turn it into something special.
