From contemporary twists on local classics to international flavour explosions - these restaurants promise a feast not only for your taste buds, but also for your Instagram feed. Get ready for a culinary adventure where style and taste come together at the hippest spots in our beloved capital. Let the hungry journey of discovery begin!

1. nNea Pizza - Airy dough as the main ingredient

At nNEA Pizza it's all about dough. Preferably as airy as a dough cloud and topped with the tastiest ingredients. Making the dough requires quality flour without additives, purified water and time. This allows the fermentation process to get going optimally. But pizza is of course just a bit more than just dough. Mainly seasonal ingredients are used to create a connection between southern Italy and Amsterdam.

Will you go for a vegetarian pizza with roasted tomato sauce, roasted peppers, olives, grilled artichokes, mint and hazelnut? Or do you prefer the pizza with oven-roasted octopus, stracciatella, tomato, parsley and lemon? Whatever pizza you choose at this hip restaurant in Amsterdam, you won't be disappointed.

2. Café Beurre - A Valhalla for vegetarians

With a menu full of tasty vegetarian dishes, Café Beurre is a Valhalla for vegetarians. To support its approachable character, you are welcome to just walk in without a reservation. The dishes on the menu change all the time but are always surprising and challenging. In this, the season also plays a big role. But one item is always on the menu: the whipped butter. Be surprised by Café Beurre 's original flavour combinations during an atmospheric dinner or a cosy drink.

3. Loof Bakery - The tastiest pastries with a sourdough base

Loof is a pastry shop, delicatessen and bookshop all in one and for that reason alone it should not be missing from this blog of hip restaurants in Amsterdam. In the bakery, they get creative with classic recipes and create bold and delicious treats. They move with the seasons, making new baked goods available all the time. Most pastries are made with a sourdough base. To get diverse flavours and textures, a slow fermentation process is used. Each pastry is unique and is combined with organic and local produce. In Loof' s bookstore, you will find cool coffee table books on baking and cooking. So you can get inspired at home too.

Sink your teeth into a sticky croissant with maple syrup and hazelnuts, enjoy a classic cinnamon roll made with sourdough croissant dough or be surprised by the dreamy matcha ice cream croissant. Is your mouth already watering?

4. Pof - Roasting, smoking, stewing, brewing, pickling and preserving

Roasting, smoking, stewing, brewing, pickling and preserving. At Pof, artisanal cooking techniques are used to conjure up the tastiest dishes on the table. But as the name of this restaurant somewhat gives away, puffing takes centre stage. During puffing, the ingredients are cooked in their own skin without adding oil or water. This method of cooking ensures that all the nutrients are retained, but they also impart a unique flavour.

The menu changes regularly, depending on which seasonal vegetables are available. In autumn, for example, delicious dishes are made with celeriac, beetroot, various mushrooms, pumpkin, palm cabbage and mustard leaf. Enjoy beetroot carpaccio, pumpkin quiche, roasted celeriac or fried oyster mushroom. Besides vegetarian dishes, there are also several meat dishes on the menu. End the evening with a home-brewed beer from Friekens Brewery.

5. Café Celia - Also very nice for the flex worker

With a menu inspired by California, Café Celia should definitely not be missing from this list of hip restaurants in Amsterdam. California offers one of the most diverse cuisines and this is reflected on the menu. The restaurant is divided into open and bright spaces. Café Celia is known for the good coffee they serve. And want to spend a day working in a nice place? Then you are welcome with your laptop. There is even a special all-in day pass devised for the flex worker. In it, you receive a reserved coworking spot, unlimited barista coffee & tea, a nutritious lunch and access to meeting rooms when available. And then, if you want to end the day in convivial fashion, drinks are organised at the end of the afternoon to connect with like-minded people.

6. Fiona - A piece of Latin America in Amsterdam

Experience a piece of Latin America in the capital at Fiona. This hip restaurant in Amsterdam is the place to discover Mexican cuisine. Choose from tacos, ceviche, super tender spare ribs, spicy pulpo and various sides that provide a taste explosion. The restaurant has a warm and cosy feel that makes you feel right at home. I can't wait to try the vegan tacos with cauliflower, hummus, red cabbage and vegan cheese. Or how about ceviche of prawns with passion fruit puree and cucumber?

7. Oficina - Always surprising and new dishes

This hip and original restaurant in Amsterdam serves breakfast and lunch. Of course, you are also welcome to try one of the homemade drinks. Oficina is a canteen and Food Design Studio in one. The menu changes constantly with delicious dishes like whipped ricotta and pumpkin toast with charred chilli, black butter and sage. Or be surprised by the flavours of black rice and lentils, mushroom sauce, cabbage, house-made white kimchi and Onsen egg. As you've probably already figured out, you won't enjoy standard flavours and dishes at Oficina.

And so ends our tasty journey through Amsterdam's vibrant culinary landscape. Seven restaurants, each with their unique flair, gave us a taste of the city in all its delicious diversity. Hopefully this guide full of hip restaurants will inspire you to explore the streets of Amsterdam.
