Not only is organic food healthy, it is also good for the environment. It is therefore logical that more and more people consciously choose to eat in an organic restaurant. There are a lot of such gems in our fine little country, each with their own specialities and unique flavours. In this blog, I share 5x organic restaurants in the Netherlands.

1. BUUR - Nijmegen, Gelderland

At eatery BUUR you feel as if you are in the living room of Brakkenstein, a suburb of Nijmegen. The relaxed and cosy atmosphere makes you feel at ease as soon as you enter. Whether you come for lunch, dinner, a cappuccino or a special beer. At this organic restaurant in the Netherlands, you are guaranteed to be pampered, in a healthy way.

Do you know what else is so good about BUUR? They have a number of social objectives through which they aim to make a positive social impact. For instance, they promote social cohesion in the neighbourhood, strive for an inclusive labour market and try to reduce their ecological footprint by working with rescued vegetables. So it may well be that your 'Roasted Vegetables Sandwich' consists of deviant but delicious spring vegetables that are not found in the supermarket.

2. Juffrouw van Zanten - Rotterdam, South-Holland

Juffrouw van Zanten is a hotspot in Rotterdam and has no fewer than three branches all over the city. Sit down to chat for hours with your girlfriends and enjoy a delicious organic breakfast, high tea, brunch or lunch. Will you go for the 'Summer in your Bowl', the 'Fruity pancakes' or the 'Smokey beet sandwich'? Whatever you choose, everything is, as they say themselves: ''Homemade and irresistibly delicious!''

Cooking, experimenting and good food. That is what Juffrouw van Zanten loves. The lovely employees want to spoil you with healthy and sustainable products prepared with love from the farmer to the cooks. Count on stepping out with new energy and preferably coming back tomorrow.

3. In Jugs & Pitchers - Breda, North Brabant

The people from Breda among us will surely know the following restaurant. Because if you have been here once, you know what a nice place In Kannen & Kruiken is. Take a seat at the large reading table, in the relaxed seating area with a record player or plop down in their fantastic green city garden.

At IKEK, they want to make sure every experience is a success. How they do that? They work with local suppliers to serve the tastiest coffees, breakfasts, lunches and drinks. There are also plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans so everyone can enjoy tasty dishes at this organic restaurant in the Netherlands.

4. Bistro de Stadshoeve - Zwolle, Overijssel

On to Zwolle, because one of the nicest organic restaurants in the Netherlands can be found there too. Meet Bistro de Stadshoeve! It is a place where you experience outdoor life, but right in the heart of Stadshagen. Relax, enjoy and (h)honest food is what is central.

In addition, Bistro de Stadshoeve is the first restaurant in Zwolle with an EKO quality mark. This means that 80% to 100% of the menu consists of organic products. The chef creates, 6 days a week, the very best taste sensations for you by cooking with fresh ingredients from the region. Taste it yourself at lunch by ordering a 'Yellow beetroot vegan rendang sandwich' or at dinner the 'Polder hen chicken thigh masala'.

5. Brasserie Meelfabriek Zijlstroom - Leiden, South Holland

As a final tip, I would like to give you Brasserie Meelfabriek Zijlstroom. Located in a former flour factory, this restaurant has a unique, industrial feel. Find a spot by the fireplace or in the bright conservatory and be surprised by all the artwork on your plate.

This special restaurant is a leader in sustainability. They are committed with all their hearts to developing a nice planet for future generations. They do this by offering organic food and drinks, working with 100% green energy, getting ingredients from their own vegetable garden, decorating the interior with second-hand gems and reducing waste as much as possible.

Being kind to your own body and at the same time contributing to a more beautiful world. That is something I find very important and would like to share with you. Do you know another great organic restaurant in the Netherlands? Don't forget to share it via @honeyguide.nl/en or #heyhoneyguide.

Love,

Krisja
