Celebrate Valentine's Day surrounded by nature at Buitenplaats Beekhuizen. One of the perfect Valentine's Day getaways for those who love nature and cosiness. It is located on the edge of Veluwezoom National Park. Spend the night together in a cosy lodge with wood-burning stove, outdoor shower and private hot tub. Take the Forest Cabin overlooking the forest, for example. In the evening, you can hear the owls and gaze at the stars together. The next morning, a breakfast with local produce will be waiting for you. Start the day off right with fresh bread from the local bakery, organic yoghurt with granola, homemade jam and yoghurt from the beekeeper. Winter-Glamping at Beekhuizen is pure romance and the perfect getaway for Valentine's Day.

As far as I am concerned, relaxing together at Spa Parel in 't Groen is the ultimate Valentine's Day outing. Surrounded by peaceful nature, the private wellness accommodations offer an oasis of luxury and silence. Choose from stays such as The Suite, Loft 1, Loft 3 or the Yurt. This is with whirlpool, sauna, steam room and panoramic terrace. With the Day Experience, you will enjoy five hours of private wellness. This includes jacuzzi, sauna, garden, a detox footbath and a 60-minute massage. Get away together in the middle of nature in the Bumblebee Cabin. A particularly romantic getaway for Valentine's Day as far as I'm concerned. It is located at the woody Chaletpark Kempenbos in Diessen. This cosy cabin is specially designed for couples. It is compact, stylish and with attention to detail. The wooden floors, soft lighting, and comfortable sofa invite you to relax together. Plop down in front of the wood-burning stove. Outside, you will find a private sauna, an outdoor stove and a deck. Here you can enjoy the wooded view very romantically together under the stars. A perfect place for a quiet getaway during Valentine's Day. This way, you can fully enjoy each other and nature.

One of my favourite tips on this list of Valentine's Day getaways is an overnight stay at Atelier Gaasterland. This atmospheric studio house has a spacious living room with several seating areas and a cosy wood-burning stove. At the dining room table by designer Piet Hein Eek, you can relax and read or have dinner together. A king-size Auping bed awaits you in the bedroom.

During your stay, you can let your creativity run wild with one of the workshops at Atelier Made by Fem. Think for example of epoxy and resin art, wood burning or hand lettering. This way, you can take home a unique souvenir and experience something special during your stay.

Tip from me: On 14 February 2026 at 2 p.m. there is an epoxy and resin art workshop, in which you can immortalise personal objects in shiny cast resin.

Dive into the evening together at the Dark Sky Park Lauwersmeer. This is one of the darkest places in the Netherlands. There is almost no artificial light here, making the starry sky stunningly clear. Did you know you can even see the Milky Way! Bring a blanket and a thermos of hot drink and enjoy the view together. The park offers special viewpoints. For example, you have sky platform Achter de Zwarten, which is located beyond Suyderoogh. This platform is designed to completely immerse you in the night sky. It is a raised platform that rises just above the landscape.

Tip from me: Combine this magical moment with an overnight stay at B&B Lauwersstate. This is an atmospheric place on the sea dyke in Peasens/Moddergat. From here you can walk or cycle straight into nature.

Be surprised in the heart of the Achterhoek. Walk together the five-kilometre route the Love Path full of nature and art in Ruurlo. This route is an original idea for those looking for something to do during Valentine's Day. During this route, you walk through wooded avenues, past surprising loveseats and original works of art. You can hear the babbling water of the Baakse Beek. This is a historic stream valley area with estates and forest, perfect for a rest along the way. You also walk through the grounds of Ruurlo Castle. Here you will admire the work of Dutch painter Carel Willink. Carel Willink's work is in a fairytale setting full of stained glass and chandeliers.
