There is a paradise of peace and quiet just a stone's throw from Amsterdam: Laag Holland. Here you will find everything. From tea tasting at Mrs Cha to sleeping on a camping raft in Waterland. Need to really relax and get away from the city? Exchange the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam for the peace and quiet of Laag Holland. With the following five tips, we can escape the city together for a while.

1. Overleek tea garden - Boating and picnics

The Deun family lives in a paradise of peace and quiet, between meadows and ditches. They love to share this special place with everyone. The father of the family planted the tea garden himself and the mother bakes all the cakes herself in the kitchen.

Theetuin Overleek is less than half an hour's drive from the centre of Amsterdam. All you hear here are the chirping of the birds and the mooing of the cows. No honking cars, no stray tourists (okay, sometimes one). Just peace and quiet.

Enjoy a home-made lunch during your afternoon off. Afterwards, explore the area by whisper boat. A tip from me: the scones are delicious. Pampering yourself is also allowed once in a while!

2. Beach tent Strandvier in Monnickendam - Lounging and enjoying

The sand between my toes, the wind in my hair and the smell of the sea. For me, these are the ingredients of a relaxing and laid-back afternoon. Just outside Monnickendam is a quiet beach club with beautiful views of the Gouwzee: Strandtent Strandvier. You can even moor your own boat here! The menu includes delicious vega(n) dishes that they prepare on the parilla , a kind of Argentinian indoor barbecue.

3. Mrs Cha - Tea tasting and lunch

Snuggled up on the couch with a cup of tea. That's how I see a quiet, relaxing moment for myself. Since I would like to learn more about tea, I would like to experience another tea tasting at Mevrouw Cha. Here, tea sommeliers Linda and Marloes will tell you everything you need to know about tea and its brewing. Moreover, the tasting takes place in a super nice location, namely in Mrs Cha's tea room. Besides the tasting, you can also go there for lunch with the tastiest tea, of course!

4. Sleeping on a camping raft - Special overnight stays

Is a day in Laag Holland not enough? Stay another night! One thing I have wanted to do for a long time is sleep on the Camping Raft in Uitdam. This seems like a unique and more adventurous way to spend the night. Sail through the Waterland all day and fall asleep at night with the sounds of nature. If you don't unwind here, I don't know what else.

5. Fort Resort Beemster - Pamper yourself

One thing is certain, an overnight stay at Fort Resort Beemster will make you come back relaxed. The hotel is CO2 neutral and shows that eco and chic also go together. Relax, enjoy and pamper yourself. I would know: pack your bags and a good book an overnight stay at this hotel.

From Amsterdam, all these places can be reached within 30 to 45 minutes. Now you know where to go to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Peace and quiet are sometimes literally around the corner! Don't forget to share your Laag Holland adventures with us by using #heyhoneyguide or by sending us a message on Instagram.
