Get away from it all before your little one is born; go on a babymoon! A few days on a short holiday close to home to enjoy each other and the surroundings. Did you know that the second trimester of your pregnancy (week 13 to week 26) is the perfect time to go on a babymoon for a few days? And where better than nice and close to home. From a romantic weekend away in a forest cabin with hot tub, to a luxury babymoon in a boutique hotel with spa. These are our 6 tips for babymoon destinations in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Luxe babymoon op de Veluwe with hotel-chic atmosphere at Cuber Suites - Forestcabin in Hoenderloo, the Netherlands
In the silence of the morning, the birds are your alarm clock. At Cuber Suites, you can see the sky colouring through the panoramic window from your queen-size bed. Time to turn over and enjoy the soft pillows. This is a babymoon dedicated to relaxation, nature and quality time. We ourselves also slept one night at Cuber Suites and it was a surprisingly nice experience! It's like dropping into a room of a modern boutique hotel in the middle of the tranquillity of the Veluwe forest. Via an app, you order logs to make a cosy fire, or to fire up the hot tub on your veranda. And want to get out together? Then there's the Veluwe in your backyard to explore.
Dreaming away on a babymoon at the Vinkeveense Plassen at Zwier - Harbour house in Vinkeveen, the Netherlands
Do you prefer being by, near or on the water? Then Zwier' s tinyhouses are the best destination for your babymoon. Our favourite is the Havenhuisje, where you get 3 hours of sailing in a whisper boat as a gift with your babymoon weekend. Honeyguide Eliane already went there once in winter and shares her experience in this blog. The Havenhuisjes are small but nice; with their own toilet, shower and kitchenette. If you celebrate your babymoon at Zwier, you will stay for at least a weekend. Nice thing is that breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in this. The brigade of the Zwier kitchen cooks the most delicious healthy veggie dishes and you choose where to eat them: privately in your cottage or in the cosy living room. In summer, you are free to take the sups and canoes to explore the Vinkeveense Plassen.
Cocooning with this special babymoon package on the Wadden island Texel - Luxury boutique hotel on Texel, the Netherlands
Rolling dunes, wind force 6 and seals bobbing over the sandbanks. The Wadden Islands are a babymoon destination for those seeking peace and quiet. Our tip for your babymoon is on the largest Wadden Island: Texel. At the luxury Boutique Hotel Texel, they have put together a special babymoon package. Especially for you and your partner to relax as a couple for the last time in a long time. Think of sleeping in together in your favourite suite, relaxing in the spa and swimming pool, joining the generous breakfast buffet and in the refined Gusta restaurant. And how nice: to immortalise your babymoon, the package also includes a maternity photo shoot. Another plus is that this boutique hotel has been awarded gold Green Key seal of approval.

A babymoon in a private spa in the meadow at Betuwsch Badhuys - Wellness cottage in Lienden, the Netherlands
Ever heard of a wellness farm? In the heart of the Betuwe – home to many of the Netherlands’ fruit orchards – they combine country life with wellness. At the Betuwsch Badhuys, they call it ‘Wellness in the Meadow’. In this private spa, as an expectant mother, you’ll be thoroughly pampered during a babymoon package. You’ll have the spa entirely to yourself. You’ll also be pampered all day long with wellness treatments and a massage for both you and your partner. If you’d like to stay longer, you can add an extra night in the wellness cottage in the orchard. It’s worth noting that the Betuwsch Badhuys is also a baby spa.
Are you in the Betuwe in spring by any chance? Then go on a cherry blossom walk. These blossoms symbolise a new beginning. Perfect for daydreaming together about your little one.
A weekend on a romantic babymoon city break in Haarlem - City break in Haarlem
Don't want the peace and quiet, but rather the excitement? Then go on a babymoon to historic Haarlem. One of our favourite Dutch cities full of hidden courtyards, must-see museums and with golden shopping streets. As a babymoon destination, Haarlem, with its compact and cosy centre, is great for the two of you to wander around.

- Shop baby clothes and cuddly toys at Scandinavian-inspired baby boutique Room 42
- Find the best baby supplies in the sustainable and organic baby & kids shop Never Grow up Babyshop

Romantic babymoon in a treehouse at Treelodge - A tree house in Retie, Belgium
In the forests of Retie in Flanders, just across the border near Eindhoven, there is a tree house camp with four luxury tree houses. We ourselves were once allowed to stay two nights in Tjiftjaf and that was a real treat! On the inside, the tree house is cosy with a wood-burning stove, but also equipped with conveniences (read: dishwasher). The ideal combination for a babymoon. At Treelodge, you put your phone on silent and just listen to each other and nature. In the evening, you fire up the hot tub to stare at the stars from the water through the treetops. All the ingredients to get away from it all just the two of you, before your baby comes into the world. And whether this is a romantic babymoon destination!
For you, what are the ingredients of an ideal babymoon? If you ask me, quality time is number one. So wherever you are, whatever you do enjoy this special moment in your lives. Because as parents-to-be, a lot is about to change. A babymoon lends itself to looking back and forward and taking a deep look into each other's eyes. Enjoy!
Love,
Amanda
