Valentine's Day is just around the corner. The day when you put the one you love in the spotlight. This could be your Valentine, of course, but also a good friend, your grandmother or your mother. Because especially this year, we can all use a little extra charity. Time to spend a special night together in the Netherlands. As some inspiration couldn't hurt, I have listed my favourite small-scale accommodations for you.
1. B&B Hoogtij'd - Voorweg 48, Oostvoorne
Bed & breakfast Hoogtij'd opened its doors in September 2020 and is therefore still brand new. If you are looking for a cosy and stylish accommodation, you have come to the right place. You will stay in a wooden accommodation with a sunny garden and a veranda in front of the door. The accommodation has all kinds of amenities such as fresh breakfast, a cosy lounge with a wood-burning stove (!) and free parking next door.
During the day, you enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Voorne-Putten. For example, you can walk straight onto the beach. Or take a nice bike ride in the surrounding forests. With a bit of luck, you can sniff up some culture in the villages on the island on Valentine's Day. You certainly won't get bored here. And then, after a day of exploring Voorne-Putten, you can snuggle up by the fireplace with a good book. Enjoy!
2. Free port Zwier - Winkeldijk 20a, Vinkeveen
I can really recommend a weekend of swaying to everyone. It's only a 15-minute drive from Amsterdam and then you're completely immersed in nature around Free Port Zwier. At Zwier, you don't have to do anything. Here you can let yourself be guided by what feels right.
This starts with the special accommodations. How about a Havenhuisje, for example, or do you prefer an Eilandhut? And under which view would you like to open the curtains in the morning? The vast waters of the Vinkeveense Plassen or would you prefer something more green? In any case, one thing is certain: relaxation is guaranteed.
Honeyguide Eliane recently spent the night at Zwier's Havenhuisje. In this blog you can read what it was like. At Zwier you can stay the night in a completely coronaproof and romantic way. You explore the Vinkeveen lakes and nearby islands in a boat. In your own room, you can enjoy the food from restaurant de Huiskamer and in the evening you can end the day in the hot tub. Yes, a special overnight stay is definitely possible here. After a weekend in Zwier, you will undoubtedly return home fully charged.
3. Parc Extraordinary - Kleefseweg 14, Ven-Zelderheide
The name says it all: at Parc Buitengewoon you book extraordinary accommodations. And yes, that really is as extraordinary as it sounds. For example, choose a Panorama Dome where you can see nature all around you. Or how about a Sunfield Tipi tent with a private terrace and a wood-burning stove so you can stay in it all year round. And eh, this is just a selection of the special accommodation options offered by Parc Buitengewoon.
Besides the unique accommodations, the setting of Parc Buitengewoon is also particularly fairytale-like. From your accommodation, you can look straight into the beautiful North Limburg countryside. Leave your alarm clock at home, the birds in the surrounding nature will do the work. And if you can start the day with a cup of coffee and a fresh loaf of bread, that holiday feeling will soon set in.
4. 't Heide Huisje - Heeseind 13A, Nuland
This bed & breakfast is really as cute as it sounds. 'T Heide Huisje is located in the outskirts of the municipality of Den Bosch and is surrounded by woods, heathland and meadows. You can imagine that this is a very peaceful location, where you will only be woken up in the morning by enthusiastically whistling birds. After a delicious breakfast, it is pure relaxation here.
Of course, Den Bosch is around the corner as an ideal base, but you can go in many more directions than just towards the city. Near 't Heide Huisje you will also find nature reserves such as the Nulandse Heide, the Karrengat and De Maashorst. Beautiful walks guaranteed. Prefer to stay around the bed & breakfast? The accompanying flower-picking garden might not be in full bloom around Valentine's Day, yet it is very peaceful there I can tell you.
5. Voscheheugte Nature Cabins - Mantingerdijk 8, Mantinge
De Voscheheugte is a campsite in the middle of nature where you can choose from a number of special accommodations to spend the night. At Voscheheugte, you can not only pitch your tent, but also spend the night in a nature cottage. Spend the night, for example, in a design hut designed by artist and architect Rolf Bruggink. Or how about Tinyhouse Tralaluna, composed of ecological building materials.
Besides special overnight stays, you can also enjoy delicious food here. The site has a restaurant where fresh, seasonal and organic products are served. During the day, you can explore the Drenthe countryside that surrounds the campsite. Various walking routes have been set out from Voscheheugte so you can fully experience the surroundings. A wonderful (Valentine's) weekend away is guaranteed.
