Honeyguide Angelique takes the most beautiful landscape photos. In this blog, she shares five photography tips with you so you can go out and shoot stunning landscape photos yourself. Yes, just such beautiful photos as you see in magazines or those you come across on Angelique and Honeyguide' s Instagram. Ready? Here come the 5 photography tips:
Use the camera you have with you - Photography tip 1
Do you ever have one of those moments when you think: “If only I’d brought my camera?” These days, almost everyone has a camera with them at all times. Why not try using your smartphone to take photos? After all, the best photo is the one you’ve taken.
That way, you’ll never miss that perfect photo opportunity again.
The rule of thirds - Photography tip 2
The rule of thirds is a composition rule to take your photography to the next level. Place the subject you want to capture one third of the way into your field of view, rather than in the centre of your photo. This is because you will create a more beautiful image. In the photo below, you can see that I deliberately aligned the mushroom on the right side of the image.
Go at the right time - Photography tip 3
Would you like to capture that beautiful golden glow in your photos too? Then it’s important to take your photos at the right times. This ‘golden hour’ occurs twice a day: one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset. It isn’t always exactly an hour, but this is when the light is at its most beautiful for photography.
Think in advance about what sort of photo you want to take and what light you’ll need for it. As well as a beautiful golden glow, you can also opt for cooler colours during the blue hour. The blue hour – as the name suggests – will give your photos a blue tint.
Use lines - Photography tip 4
By using lines in your landscape, you draw the viewer into your photo. Think of the lines of the road, or the lines in the sand. Be creative, there are lines everywhere! Below, you see not only the coastline, but the lines of the wooden posts add depth to the photo.
Hit the road - Photography tip 5
Perhaps not a specific tip for nature photography, but the best way to make better nature photos is to go out a lot. Go your own way and don't be guided by the many photos you see every day. By practising a lot, you will develop your own style, which will make people recognise your photos. And believe me, nothing better than being told by people that without seeing your name, they knew it was your photo.
And last, but not least, enjoy all the beauty that nature has to offer! On this interactive map you can see which hidden gems are near you, or download the Honeyguide App. Share your landscape photo with us? You can do so by using #heyhoneyguide or tag us in your photo: @heyhoneyguide.
