Bos Bornia

Nature reserve

About this hidden gem

The forest offers alternation between deciduous and coniferous trees and an expansive view of the beautiful heathland.

Why you really want to visit this place

Together with 3 other forests, Bornia forms the nature reserve of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Bornia is mainly covered by forests and heathland. The area is also characterised by drifting sands. Bornia owes its name to the manor house built here in 1870. The manor house was built on the foundations of a 17th century farm. The name Bornia means border area in Frisian, which is appropriate as the area forms part of the border between municipalities of Zeist and Driebergen-Rijsenburg.
