The Turtle Centre takes care of all kinds of turtles. From land turtles to marsh turtles. All turtles living at the centre were taken over from private individuals who could no longer care for them or turtles intercepted at customs, for example.
Why you really want to visit this place
The centre provides a lot of education on how turtles live and how they should be cared for. A lot is also explained about the different species during one of the visitors' days, as there are quite a few: there are Red-cheeked turtles, Saw-back turtles, Weeks turtles, Chinese loggerhead turtles... but also Greek land turtles and large African land turtles can be seen! For the Turtle Centre, no turtles are captured or purchased from the wild, they all come in through animal rescue services such as the Animal Welfare Society. By visiting, you support the turtle protection initiative.
