5x B&Bs on the Wadden Islands

A bed and breakfast in a vineyard on Texel? It sounds too good to be true, but at B&B Wijngaard de Kroon van Texel it is the daily reality. Owners Marleen and Jan Jaap have put their heart and soul into their vineyard and you notice it immediately. During a guided tour, they enthusiastically tell you about their 8,500 vines and the process of making wine.

This B&B on Texel has three rooms, two of which are on the ground floor with doors opening onto a private terrace. Perfect for starting the day with a cup of coffee while overlooking the vineyard. The third room, on the top floor, has a large skylight through which you gaze delightfully at the stars at night. A more romantic setting for a weekend getaway hardly exists!

For those looking for a unique B&B on Terschelling, De Postoari comes highly recommended. This accommodation is in an old presbytery from 1907. The rooms all have their own character and bear the names of vicars who once preached here. Some overlook the garden, others look out over the mud flats.

And how about a hot tub in the garden? You hear it well, here you step right into the warm water after a day on the island. The garden itself is a picture, with fruit trees, special plants and even a Tasting Garden where owner Flang prepares delicious dishes. Local, seasonal and organic, of course. Breakfast here is done in style, with local delicacies and fresh ingredients from the island, such as Terschellinger farmer's cheese and cranberry jam.

Tip: De Postoari also organises all kinds of tastings and workshops. Book an afternoon of oyster gathering, culinary mudflat hiking or wild picking. This will make your B&B experience on Terschelling even more special!

The name says it all: at B&B Stil de Tijd on Ameland, it feels as if time stands still. Located on the edge of the nature reserve De Vleijen, it is an ideal place for anyone who loves peace and nature. The rooms are spacious, with furniture and decorations made from natural materials. The relaxed atmosphere can be felt throughout the B&B.

In the morning, breakfast is served with local products. Crusty bread, creamy butter and fresh cheese, everything you need to start the day off right. From this B&B, you can walk or cycle straight through Ameland's nature. An ideal place for nature lovers.

Leut op Vlieland may not be a bed and breakfast in the traditional sense, but it is a very nice place to stay. The three hotel rooms are above the coffee bar, so you roll straight down from your bed for a cappuccino and a fresh breakfast. The 'Wake up together breakfast' is a feast of bread, banana pancakes, fresh orange juice and more.

If you prefer to prepare something yourself, that's possible too. Each room has a kitchen. Within a few minutes you can walk to the supermarket and local bakery Westers.

Although De4dames on Schiermonnikoog is not really a bed and breakfast either, I don't want to leave this location out of this list. This small-scale hotel has 14 rooms. Wooden shelves, steel accents and earth tones give it a cosy, homely atmosphere. Below the hotel you'll find the wine bar & bistro. It serves continental breakfast, as well as wines from Italy and (h)honest, fresh dishes.

De4dames is right in the centre and close to National Park Schiermonnikoog. Did you know that this park is one of the most wild places in the Netherlands? Chances are you will see special birds here, such as the spoonbill. You might even spot a seal in the water.
