In Japan Museum SieboldHuis you will see prints, lacquerware, ceramics, herbaria, prepared animals, clothing, old maps and other treasures. These objects were collected by the physician Philipp Franz von Siebold between 1823 and 1829. On his return from Japan, the current museum was occupied by Siebold. Here, Siebold exhibited his impressive collection of Japanese curiosities to the public, opening the first Japan Museum in Europe. Now, in addition to the permanent Siebold collection, you will discover temporary exhibitions on a wide variety of Japanese subjects.
